Odile Gannier is Professor of Comparative Literature at the Université Côte d'Azur (France), in the CTEL laboratory of which she is director. She is co-responsible for the "Writings of Otherness and Singularity" axis, and in the MSH Sud-Est for the research theme "Discourse of Travels".  She works on travel literature, maritime literature, island literature and cultural anthropology. In particular, she co-edited an eighteenth-century logbook, the Journal de bord d'Étienne Marchand. Le Voyage du Solide autour du monde (1790-1792), CTHS, 2005 and Le Voyage du capitaine Marchand (1791): les Marquises et les Iles de la Révolution. In addition to numerous articles on travel writing, she published La Littérature de voyage, 2001; Le Roman maritime. Émergence d'un genre en occident, PUPS, 2011.
